Stephen Hawking: Everything You Need to Know

Stephen Hawking is a scientist who is a known professor and author of the famous science book “A Brief History of Time.” Stephen Hawking was a popular British scientist and author. He performed groundbreaking work in physics and cosmology. He later became the Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. The part of his life story was depicted in the movie “The Theory of Everything.” Hawkings was born into a family of thinkers.

Early life

Hawking was born on January 8, 1942, in England. His birthday was also the 300th death anniversary of Galileo. He was the eldest child among three other siblings in the family. Hawking’s father worked to manage as parasitology at the National Institute of Medical Research.

Education

During the early years in school, Stephen wasn’t a bright student, and he came third last in the whole class. He acquired a degree of cosmology from the University of Oxford. He had very few close friends who created games of their own. But Hawking didn’t put much time into studying. He graduated in natural science and went to attend Trinity Hall in Cambridge for a Ph.D. in cosmology. 

Disease

Hawking was diagnosed with ALS( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ) at the age of 21. The doctors declared that he has only two years to live. The nerves that controlled muscles gradually were shutting down. The physical problems started being in notice when he was in Oxford. Most of the time, he had kept these symptoms to himself only. Hawking’s ever-expanding career was accompanied by his deteriorating health.

Stephen Hawking contributed to 15 books. He taught students at Cambridge and used a speech synthesizer. He was named as a member of a Royal Society and received a prestigious Albert Einstein award.
