Purpose

The nurse has the ability to be a catalyst for change in the empowerment of the individual, communities, and populations to improve their health and health outcomes. An important first step in this process is to understand how individuals perceive and define the concept of health. The purpose of this assessment is to examine the concept of health, investigate the health continuum, analyze holistic perspectives of health, and develop a personal definition of health.

Assignment Overview
Based upon your readings, create a 3–5 page paper to address the rubric criteria. Include a minimum of four peer-reviewed, scholarly sources, current within 5 years, to support your writing.
Provide an introduction to the paper.
Analyze the concept of health, including the definition and explanation of its meaning. Include three scholarly sources to support your analysis of the concept. Describe three attributes of health. Describe the themes surrounding the concept of health that are present within the definitions and attributes presented.
Discuss the health continuum. Address the different levels of health from illness to wellness, and how the definition and attributes of health are present along the continuum.
Discuss the principles of a holistic perspective of health, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual considerations. Explain how these principles are reflected across the health continuum.
Synthesize the information to develop a personal definition of health. Explain how your perception of health is congruent with the definitions of health, the health continuum, and holistic healthcare principles.
Provide a conclusion to the paper.

Purpose
Models of health promotion focus on enhancing healthful behaviors and reducing risks within individual lifestyle and health practices. MSN-prepared nurses are positioned to facilitate health promotion for individuals, families and populations. The purpose of this assignment is to analyze and apply health promotion models. Strengths and weaknesses of models will be explored, along with application to specific health promotion needs within selected populations.

Select two major health-promotion models and create a Venn diagram to compare the models.
Analyze the components of each model.
Complete a Venn diagram comparing the common features between the two selected health-promotion models. Use the Venn Diagram Template (Links to an external site.) to complete this aspect of the assignment.
The Venn diagram will become "page 2" of your assignment.
Identify one of the two selected health-promotion models to further explore in a 2–4 page paper. Include a minimum of three peer-reviewed, scholarly sources, current within 5 years, to support your writing.

Purpose
Acute illness has a sudden onset and short trajectory of symptoms. Nurses play a key role in the restoration of health for individuals who experience acute illness. The purpose of this assessment is to explore the pathophysiology of a selected acute illness and apply the synergy model of patient care to facilitate person-centered restoration of health. Educational, pharmacological, and nutritional strategies to restore health will be analyzed.

Certain groups of people are more susceptible to illness based on different determinants of health. Select one group from the following options: school-age children, college students, adult prisoners, or older adults. Identify one common acute illness experienced by the selected group. For example: URI, meningitis, viral hepatitis or STI, pneumonia, shingles.
Create a 3–5 page paper to address the rubric criteria. Include a minimum of four peer-reviewed, scholarly sources, current within 5 years, to support your writing.
Provide an introduction to the paper.
Identify the selected group and the selected acute illness. Describe the pathophysiology of the selected acute illness and variables that increase susceptibility to the illness within the identified group. Apply the synergy model to discuss two patient characteristics that influence the acquisition and trajectory of the selected acute illness. Discuss two nurse characteristics that can promote restoration of health.
