In this assignment, you will discuss your capstone project in detail. You also need to list at least three individual behavioral objectives (using verbs that can be measured) that are based on your overall objectives for this course, as well as your population or problem of interest. Although this assignment will seem similar to one from NSG7200 and NSG7205, you are being asked to introduce and update everyone on your project and practicum experience. This will assure that your facilitator and fellow students have a frame of reference for your work.
Briefly describe your preceptor and his or her academic qualifications and experience and provide a brief description of the practicum site. Describe your population or problem of interest and the challenges, issues, or concerns surrounding this topic. What objectives have you set, and how do you plan to meet these objectives? As you consider your Capstone Project, you look forward to outcomes that may have implications for an organization. Reflect upon the potential outcomes of the project and how ethical principles may influence those outcomes. In this assignment, we will discuss a slightly different view of health promotion and disease prevention. Visit the South University Online Library and retrieve two peer-reviewed articles which describe health care delivery systems or aspects of those which relate to your capstone project. Critique each article, highlighting the strengths and the weaknesses of each article. Look at the articles from the perspective of a DNP who is evaluating and critiquing the system. Discuss your findings and reflections. How does this help you to think about your capstone project?

Leadership has many components. Within any system, a leader must have multiple skills including political acumen, business and financial skills, and the ability to maintain a systems perspective in thought processes. Visit the South University Online Library and retrieve two peer-reviewed articles pertaining to one of the above mentioned aspects of leadership. Seek articles which are related to your topic or provide a useful perspective in developing your project. Provide an overview of each article and explain the significance of the information for your project or future role.

Informatics, Data Mining, Evidence, and Application
In this assignment, you will discuss meaningful use as a segment of the use of informatics in health care. Start by looking at the website www.healthit.gov and review the current federal directive on meaningful use. Then look for peer-reviewed articles which discuss segments of this approach. In particular, look for articles which either highlight the role of the DNP or provide information which would be useful for a DNP who provides leadership in the development of these programs in a particular setting. Reflect upon what you have read and consider the ways this information can be utilized in relationship to your capstone project.

Quality Improvement and Evidence Application
In this assignment, you will discuss additional quality improvement methods. Look at Nursing Quality (NDNQI) and review the available information on The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators® (NDNQI) which is a proprietary database of the Press Ganey Associates, Inc. Explain the importance of this database and how the DNP can help to encourage a hospital to participate in this program. Review the literature for two peer-review articles describing various aspects of the program. Reflect upon how you might be able to use this type of information in your capstone project.

This will be the final week of collecting evidence. As you work on your Capstone project, think about the implications of your project for your work with other professionals. Based upon your literature search, what strategies might you use to avoid problems with your project?

Week 9 Discussion
Clinical Seminars
This week, you will deliver a 15- to 20-minute professional presentation of no greater than twenty Microsoft PowerPoint slides with voiceover presentation (exclusive of references) to your classmates. The presentation will be a collation of the evidence (articles) you have retrieved about your capstone topic. Use the articles that you have retrieved each week as the basis for your discussion question. The evidence should be presented in support of nursing standards and patient safety toward your topic of interest. In addition, the presentation will offer an introduction to your problem or population of interest, and describe the methods, data collection, and analysis proposed to conduct the project. Discuss your "next steps" as you move forward in your advanced field experience.
As you critique your weekly articles, explore the reasons for any similarities or differences within the evidence, and discuss the strength of that evidence. Present and analyze how it supports nursing standards and patient safety.

In the last course, you reviewed the Lean Six Sigma Modules for quality. In this course, look at the website QSEN. Compare and contrast these approaches to the discussion of quality improvement. Look for two peer-reviewed articles which provide some insight into the QSEN standards and how they can be implemented within nursing. Reflect upon how this can be used within your capstone project.

Midterm Evaluation of Clinical Logs
You will submit clinical logs and narratives this week. Clinical logs will be recorded in CORE, and narratives will be submitted to week 5 project.
The purpose of these logs is to provide validation of clinical outcomes and supervision of professional development.
Your logs should include the following two parts:
Successful completion of CORE hours, with satisfactory explanation of each daily activity. Satisfactory midterm evaluation by mentor.
A written narrative covering the following items:
Weekly reflection summary providing an overview of clinical or scholarly activities during the reporting time period (Weeks 1–5).
Commentary and evidence (examples) of progress toward achieving specific course objectives.
Reflections that include thoughts, feelings, and correlation to the South University Five Pillars of Nursing (professionalism, critical thinking, holism, communication, and caring) on the overall experience and correlate to The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice. Note: Each week, your reflection should be a 1- to 2-page summary of the week's activities. This should result in about 6–10 pages of the overall reflection summary for week 5.

Clinical Seminars
This week, you will present your clinical seminars using Microsoft Powerpoint and voiceover. Your seminar presentations are an opportunity to share your practicum work to date, research on your topic, and the overview of how your topic is supporting the essentials of doctoral nursing practice. You will be graded on the basis of the development of a professional Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, delivery of the presentation using voiceover features, and your interaction in the clinical seminar with your classmates.
Your Learning Objectives for the Week:
Develop practice innovation based on integration and application of findings from nursing and other health sciences to pressing practice problems and dilemmas.
Evaluate evidence-based practice guidelines that promote accurate, timely, effective, and efficient care delivery.
