Through this discussion, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

Reflect on the elements of successful transition from Registered Nurse to Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. (CO 5)

Part 2: We are seeing rapid change in primary care as stakeholders are demanding higher quality healthcare at reduced costs. After reading the Cuenca (2017) and Shi, et al. (2017) articles, provide a synthesis-level evaluation of how you believe the patient-centered medical home and value-based payment models will: (1) impact your personal practice as a nurse practitioner, and (2) transform the way primary care is delivered in the United States.

Part 3: After reading the AANP (2015) and White, et al. (2017) articles, what are your thoughts on the economic benefits of using nurse practitioners in healthcare practices? Week 4 Assignment

Virtual Interactive Student Evaluation

The Clinical VISE Assignment may be completed between Weeks 3-5. Please work with your instructor to set up a time.

Purpose: The VISE assignment (Virtual Interactive Student Evaluation) is to evaluate student progress in clinical, based on per course clinical objectives. This will be a mid-term check to identify and assist students who may be struggling with clinical critical thinking and communication. Students who do not pass the VISE on the first attempt will be placed on a clinical PIP and given a second attempt at passing the VISE prior to course end.

Directions: The VISE will be completed by video conference between the course faculty and the student sometime between the beginning of Week 3 and the end of Week 5. Immediately following the VISE, the faculty and student will complete the mid-term phone call check in, review of clinical practicum, and clinical logs in MyEvaluations.

Description: This final virtual check builds upon skills learned in the previous clinical courses and emphasizes ability to professionally communicate, gather appropriate data, make a correct diagnosis, and develop the plan of care. Faculty will choose one of top 25 diagnosis and give a scenario to the student. The student will have a list of the diagnoses they should know in presentation, diagnosis, and management. The student will need to have video and audio capability and have someone, who is older than 12, to act as a patient during the VISE.

Week 7 Assignment

ePortfolio

For complete assignment guidelines refer back to the Week 1: ePortfolio explore page.

Purpose

The purpose of the ePortfolio assignment is to provide the graduate nurse practitioner student opportunity to synthesize and reflect on the process of becoming an entry-level nurse practitioner. This process should include review of psychomotor, affective and cognitive growth over the course of the program and involves professional self-assessment. The specific aim of the ePortfolio is for the nurse practitioner student to provide evidence of what has been accomplished during their graduate education and how the MSN program outcomes have been satisfied.

Activity Learning Outcomes

Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

Individualize and broaden the scope of assessment (student educational outcomes). Empower student growth by providing opportunity for faculty guided student reflection concerning intellectual and affective growth during their graduate school experience. Enhance development of higher-level metacognition and meta-comprehension through intentionality of teaching/learning design.

Requirements:

The ePortfolio assignment is embedded in select courses throughout the nurse practitioner program. Refer to the table below for a list of courses. You will begin developing your ePortfolio by watching the "how-to" video and by creating the sections of the ePortfolio. Next you will upload the required artifact for each course indicated. Courses that requires an artifact (an assignment is considered an ePortfolio artifact) you will see a prompt in the course to add the required document. Grading of the entire ePortfolio will take place in the final course, NR661, your final practicum course.
