DQ1 Movements in Art

Movements in Art. 1st Post Due by Day 3. Select one movement from the list below, and describe the time period, media (materials), methods, and subjects significant to that movement. Explain what religious, social, philosophical, or political factors may have led to the emergence of this movement and the major characteristics you described above.

Explain what the similarities and differences are between the characteristics of the two movements and the possible factors that led to the movements. Be specific, and use the textbook as a reference.

Movements Reflected in Art Work. 1st Post Due by Day 3. Refer to the assigned reading from the textbook and required videos as examples of how to interpret works of art.

Select a work of art or architecture from a movement other than the movement described in the “Movements in Art” discussion. Download an image of the artwork from a website listed on the ART101 Museum and Images Website document located in your classroom.

Embed the image that you chose into your initial discussion board post. Then, identify the movement associated with the art work. Using appropriate art terminology, discuss at least four characteristics of the work of art that are significant to the movement. Elaborate on each of the characteristics of the art work that you chose to discuss, fully explaining why they connect the work to the movement.
