Module 1 Discussion
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes for the MSN-Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse
This module focused on nursing as a profession and the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the advanced practice nurse. Reflect on the importance of furthering your education and obtaining your advanced degree in nursing. Review the MSN essentials in the lesson. All of them are equally important, but name two of them that grabbed your attention and focus and reflect on how you might incorporate these essentials into your nursing practice as an advanced practice nurse.

Module 2 Discussion
Situational Awareness
Read the following case study and commentary in regards to situational awareness and patient safety.

Consider the following questions below while formulating a response.
Describe a time in your nursing practice when you were involved in or witnessed an error or a near-miss.
How could have situational awareness prevented this situation?

Module 5 Discussion
Resolving Moral Distress
In this module, the relationship between professional values and nursing behavior and actions was explored. Discussion focused on ethical principles that promote positive outcomes. You were introduced to an ethical framework for resolving moral distress: Ask, Affirm, Assess, and Act. Reflect upon your nursing experience. Recall a time in which you felt moral distress. How did you approach the situation? What support mechanisms were in place to support you at the time?

Module 8 Discussion
Working in Complex Adaptive Systems
The focus of this module is on the knowledge and skills needed to practice in complex adaptive systems. As a master's-prepared advanced practice nurse, you will need to possess leadership and system thinking skills to successfully manage changes within a microsystem. Think of a microsystem change that occurred in your current or past professional workplace. Provide a brief description of the change and answer the following questions.
What actions demonstrated by the leader promoted or prevented change implementation?
Based on this experience, as a leader, what new awareness do you now have on how you will manage change in a complex adaptive system?
What strategies will you use to implement change within a microsystem?

Module 3 Area of Interest
Purpose
The master's-prepared advanced practice nurse is expected to analyze gaps in knowledge or evidence, formulate research questions, and implement solutions for improving practice in one's specialty area (National League for Nursing, 2010). There are two parts to this assessment. In the first (Part I), students will consider an area of interest, identify a practice issue or problem related to the area of interest, and develop a clinical/practice question to guide an evidence-based practice process improvement project using the Area of Interest Form (Links to an external site.). Second (Part II), students will select qualitative and quantitative articles related to the area of interest. Students will critique the articles using the provided appraisal tool located in the MSN Toolbox.

Module 7 Learning Theory
Purpose
Master's-prepared advanced practice nurses will have opportunities to lead change in different practice settings, which require background knowledge on learning theories. Learning theories provide theoretical and philosophical understanding on how individuals learn. In this assessment, students will create a PowerPoint presentation that describes the creation of an educational workshop prepared for a group of colleagues.

Total Points Possible: 200
Assignment Overview
You have been asked to facilitate an educational workshop for a group of colleagues on the importance of evidence-based quality improvement initiatives. Select a learning theory category (either behavioral or cognitive) to help support the development of the workshop. Develop a PPT presentation that explains how you will create a workshop that will meet the learning needs of your audience and address the stated objectives for the presentation. Use Bloom's taxonomy to develop appropriate objectives for the workshop.
Create a PowerPoint presentation to address the following.
Identify a learning theory category—behavioral or cognitive. Describe the main assumptions of the selected learning theory.
Present three learning objectives for the workshop on the importance of evidence-based quality improvement initiatives. Develop one objective for each learning domain (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective). Use the appropriate taxonomy when developing the learning objectives (e.g., if the audience is not familiar with the topic, lower-level taxonomy would be appropriate. If the audience is experienced at conducting evidence-based improvement projects, higher-level taxonomy may be appropriate). Discuss why the specific learning objectives were developed.
Create three active learning activities that will be included in the workshop to help keep your audience engaged. The learning activity should help meet the learning objectives of the workshop. Describe each active learning activity and how it aligns with the selected learning theory (behavioral or cognitive). Explain what type of learning style the activity best addresses.
Identify how you will evaluate learning (e.g., quizzes, surveys, observation, self-report). Explain how the selected evaluation will demonstrate how each learning objective was met.
Provide a conclusion. Include a summary on the selected learning theory category. Describe the relationship among learning theory, objectives, activities, and evaluation.
