Choose one of the following to respond to in Week 1 Discussion Board;

Chapter 1, Exercise 1.5 or

Chapter 2, Exercise 2.1 or

Chapter 2, Exercise 2.4

Respond with a minimum of two (2) paragraphs of 4-5 sentences each.  

You should address each bullet point in the exercise you select. 

Your work should have in-text citations integrating at a minimum one scholarly article from this week's readings and course textbook. 

APA format should be utilized to include a reference list. 

Correct grammar, spelling, and APA should be adhered to when writing, work should be scholarly without personalization or first person use.

Respond to a minimum of two (2) individuals, peer and/or faculty, with a scholarly and reflective post of a minimum of two (2) paragraphs of 4-5 sentences. A minimum of one (1) scholarly article should be utilized to support the post in addition to your textbook.

Next, choose a diagnostic or screening method (related to your choice from the list of health issues above).? You may use one of the following web sites to locate a screening tool, a scholarly article, or a tool from a professional web site of your choice (for example, from the American Psychological Association).

Reply to the following prompt: 

Describe the diagnostic or screening tool selected, its purpose, and what age group it targets. 

Has it been specifically tested in this age group? 

Next, discuss the predictive ability of the test. For instance, how do you know the test is reliable and valid? What are the reliability and validity values? What are the predictive values? Is it sensitive to measure what it has been developed to measure, for instance, HIV, or depression in older adults, or Lyme disease? Would you integrate this tool into your advanced practice based on the information you have read about the test, why or why not?

You should include a minimum of two (2) scholarly articles from the last five (5) years (3 is recommended).

Assignment Requirements

Utilizing the list below, choose two research methods. 

Next, find two articles, one on each of the chosen methods, from the Chamberlain College library, or you may use one that is provided within the course and one you find from the library. The articles should be related to population health and infectious disease, chronic health, occupational health, global health, genomics, or environmental health:

Randomized Control Trial

Cohort Study

Case-Control Study

Cross-Sectional

The articles you choose should be completely in English (this includes the reference list). They should be related to population health and speak to one of the following elements from the course: Infectious disease, chronic health, occupational health, global health, genomics or environmental health.

Read each article and answer the following questions with detail for each article, include succinct definitions/examples or rationale as fitting to the question. Organize your answers using the number of the question you are answering (1-8). Your answers should provide more than a "yes" or "no", your answers should provide examples, critical thinking, definitions, and examples.

Does the study design specify a question, goal, of the study?  Why is this important?

Explain the methodology (Randomized Control Trial, Cohort Study, Case-Control Study).

Describe the participant information, include recruitment. Is selection bias present?

How is data collected?

Are the variables identified? If yes, discuss. If no, how does this impact your interpretation of the study?

How was the data analyzed, what statistics are provided? What are potential errors related to the study design?

What are the weaknesses of the type of study design/method?

Discuss the outcomes and the implications for implementation.

Post your analysis of the research studies to the DB. Your analysis should have in-text citations and utilize a scholarly voice with APA formatting. You may choose to write a Word doc and upload your doc to the discussion board for this week.

Respond to a total of two posts; either two (2) peer posts or a peer and faculty post, with a minimum of one paragraph of 4-5 sentences for each of their articles. Your reply post should integrate in-text citation(s) and be formatted with APA and a scholarly voice.  Your reply post/s should integrate course content (such as data and correctly used course terminology) related to the study method as well as an integration of in-text citations along with a scholarly voice and APA formatting. Appraise global health problems considering WHO SDG’s as well as related epidemiological data (CO7).

Please go to a lay press newspaper, for example, The Washington Post, The New York Times, or other national publication.?

  Locate an article that has global health implications, such as malaria, untreated strep throat or other infectious diseases in developing countries.? Other topic areas may address environmental global health issues, for example, safe water, sanitation, or oral health.? 

After you locate and read over the article, respond to the following prompt:

During NR503, we have discussed the web of causation, epidemiological triangle, inter-professional collaboration and various other concepts related to population health and epidemiology.? In responding to your chosen article in this week’s discussion board be sure to synthesize, integrate, these course concepts as well as other terminology found in weekly modules. For example, integrate into your writing information from the World Health Organization and the SDG’s or include social justice theory into your article analysis.? The specific focus is up to you, but be sure to compare and contrast, integrate and think critically, as you present your discussion board post.

Write a minimum of a one-page critical analysis summary of the policy. (250 words double spaced, APA). Your summary should integrate the concepts of?advocacy, population health, and the ANA ethical statements?("The Code"), and course readings, to include a minimum of one course scholarly article (provided within the course). Be sure to speak to the role of advocacy and population health.
