Module 4 Assignment
Critical Thinking - Ethical Problems and Solutions
For this activity, you will be using your biopsychological knowledge to create a two minute video that clearly and concisely communicates the identification of an ethical problem and your proposed solution.
The reason you are making a video is because, as you already know, communication through only written information is not the only skill needed in today's world. Being capable of communicating your ideas orally using professional body language and presentation skills is critical for job and career success. Creating videos will help you improve your technical and communication skills, which will be used in any career you pursue.
Successful completion of this activity meets Module Outcome 5.
Choose one of the following options and create a 90 - 120 second oral argument, presented in a video (as your professional presence will also be evaluated):
Option 1: A politician has proposed cutting off funding to any labs that use stem-cell tissue. Using what you know about the development of the nervous system and how neuroscientists study neurodevelopment, what would you say at a public hearing about this topic?

Option 2: A person with epilepsy was brought to trial for assault. The lawyer argues that her client is not a criminal and that the assaults in question were complex partial seizures. She points out that her client takes her medication faithfully but that it does not help. The prosecution lawyer argues that the defendant has a long history of violent assault and must be locked up. What do you think the judge should do?

Briefly write out a script for yourself before you create the video. Scripts help you sound more focused and polished while keeping the information clear and concise. Follow the tips located here to maximize the impact of your script and video.
Canvas allows you to create video right within our LMS. Follow the directions giving in the "Technical Guidance" document, found at the beginning of our course.
Your video should be a maximum of 2 minutes long (60 seconds to answer each question posed above). Do your best to maintain your character!
This draft assignment will be graded with a 100 for full participation, 50 for attempted participation, or a 0 for no submission. These critical thinking assignments, due every Sunday, are worth a total of 30% of your course grade. You will be unable to access Module 7 until you receive a score of 100 on this assignment.
