The Internet has, in many ways, made the world smaller. We are now able to communicate in real-time with people anywhere in the world. Considering that prior to a world-wide Internet, communications were limited to hand delivered media or telephone, this is an amazing achievement. Information system technology has also enabled organizations to span countries and even continents, integrating cultures and markets. However, accomplishing these feats is anything but trivial as diverse cultures, standards, and infrastructures make a homogenous application of technology exceptionally challenging. Organizations that wish to sell their products or services, recruit talent, or expand their presence into global markets must have a strategy to tackle these challenges.
