reduction
Wednesday = 30% of total possible point
reduction
If the student's request is approved, the
student will be informed of the revised due date. Should the student fail to
meet the revised due date, the assignment is graded and a late penalty is
applied as follows:

Self-assessment of professional competencies will help the
graduate student guide their learning experiences in the healthcare policy
practicum. The following competencies
reflect selectedcore competencies for the student in NR650. These competencies are selected from the
competencies identified by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing,
Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing. It is anticipated that the
student will identify a number of areas of development at the initial
assessment. Goals to meet these needs
will guide development of the Learning Agreement.
At the conclusion of the practicum, the student completes the
assessment. While it is expected that
a student will show growth in the development of skills of the nurseleader in
healthcare policy, it is not expected that all development needs will be fully
met.
The
student will share the assessment tool with the nurse mentor at the beginning
and conclusion of the practicum.

Resume
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to
provide learners with the opportunity to develop a resume as the first part of
the professional portfolio.
Directions:
Create a resume/curriculum vita as part of
the professional portfolio. For healthcare policy, a resume is required as part
of your portfolio. The resume will include information about your educational
background, professional experiences, scholarly work, awards, honors, and
affiliations. The resume must be
factual, well organized, and free from errors.
While the format for a resume can vary, the
writing style and format must be internally consistent; APA format is not
required, but only one format should be followed. The resume must follow a professional
outline; the outline below provides you with the standard information contained
in a resume. If you have not had the
opportunity in your career to accomplish some of the milestones listed, delete
that area and move on to the next part of the resume. Ensure you include all required elements of
the resume as outlined on the rubric below.

Healthcare Policy Practicum
Week 6 Initiation
of Capstone Project
The capstone project focuses on a concern
or issue identified during the healthcare policy practicum experience and
suggests an evidence-based solution to the identified problem or concern. The
capstone project topic should provide sufficient depth and scope to integrate
evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary theory, and advanced nursing
practice concepts into areas specifically related to the role of the nurse
leader in healthcare policy.
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to
provide learners with the opportunity to initiate the capstone project. The
student will identify a policy issue or concern that impacts nursing practice
and/or patient outcomes and will conduct a literature search on the topic. The
student is required to write a 1-2 page
summary detailing your capstone topic, explaining with specific statistics how
the topic impacts nursing practice and patient outcomes, include a description
of how, when and where you will carry out your capstone. Include minimally ten scholarly citations in
your summary. Please annotate each
citation’s reference on the reference page with 2-3 sentences. This will
provide the foundation for development of the capstone project in NR660.
Assignment:
1. Identifya
capstone topic area that was encountered during the healthcare policy practicum
experience. Briefly describe (1 -2 paragraphs) how this topic impacts nursing
practice and/or patient outcomes.
2. Conduct
a database search on the selected capstone topic
3. Create
an annotated bibliography that includes a minimum of 10 scholarly citations
related to the capstone topic. The main
concepts of each article should be summarized in two to three sentences.
References should be cited in APA 6th edition format.

Healthcare Policy Practicum
Week 7
Healthcare Policy Project
Purpose: The healthcare policy project is a
major component of the practicum experience.
Students are expected to develop a new policy or change an existing
policy, ensure stakeholder acceptance of the policy or policy changes, and work
towards implementation of the policy to benefit nursing and/or patient
outcomes. The healthcare policy project should be chosen, in conjunction with
the mentor and approved by the course faculty, based on a review of the needs
of the organization. The student is to assess the key concerns and needs of the
organization related to a healthcare policy. The student is to assess the need
for the healthcare policy project, develop objectives, and identify strategies
from the literature used in the development and implementation of the policy.
The student is to present the policy to the targeted audience or stakeholders
involved in the policy development or change. The student should evaluate the
healthcare policy project, including feedback from stakeholders.
Directions:
Create an outline of the healthcare policy project (with short
narrative) to explain how the project addressed each of the elements in the
grading rubric below. Include the following with your submission: samples of materials prepared to use in the
healthcare policy activity and appropriate reference citations in APA format.
