This first Skills Paper asks you to research the campaign you would like to analyze for the major writing assignment. Examples:   Any election campaign for the presidency, wear seat belts campaign, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, “Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires,” “Don’t Be a Bully,” “Stop the War,” Gun Control, Occupy, Students for a Democratic Society, Smoke-Free Campus, etc.

You will write a short (2-3 pages) paper 

___Paper clearly identifies up to two different topic options (if you are set on one that is fine)

___ The topic is clearly related to public and civic discourse

___ Paper clearly identifies what the campaign/communication event is about

___ Paper clearly delineates potential analysis piece

___Supporting material is properly cited in-text and in the bibliography using APA

___ The paper is written in a style appropriate to the communication discipline and the class level
