Part 1. Go to the ProQuest Library and search 'RN to BSN –
advice on returning to school' to find the article by Leonard (2003). After
reading this article explain how this article relates to how you are currently
feeling about returning to school. Do you share the same concerns?
Part 2. Explore the Role Transition Models found in the
text. Explain each model and discuss where you are currently at based on the
models. Do you fall into one model or are you in between both models?
Part 3. Research a professional nursing organization and
provide

What resources they provide to member
Cost of membership and how many members
Current issues the organization is working on

Assignment: Two-part APA paper...
Part 1. This section should include at least 1 outside
reference and your textbook and should be at least 1 ½ pages long. Locate an
article that discusses a bioethics issue. First, provide a summary of the
article and the bioethics issue being presented. Next, discuss what ethical
actions the nurse should take in relation to the issue being presented. Also,
discuss possible legal issues that the nurse should be aware of.
Part 2. Your response to this case study should be at least
2 pages and include 2 outside references and your textbook. Analyze the
following case study and then answer the following questions:
You are working on the Operating Room and the trauma alert
goes off. You respond to the ER to provide support. Once in the ER, you receive
report that an 89 year old male is coming in with a self-inflicted GSW (Gun
Shot Wound) to the head. You listen to
the radio traffic between the ER and ambulance to get an idea what kind of
surgery you need to set up for and what will be needed as far as lines and
fluid. Here is the report:
HR: 121
B/P: 60/45
Saturation: 93%
Patient is intubated and non-responsive. Right pupil is
fixed and dilated. Paramedic also states there is a large extended family
headed to the ER. The patient lost his wife of 60 years 1 week ago and left a
note stating that he is too heartbroken to go on. The patient and family
arrive. The neurosurgeon discusses that their father's potential outcome, even
with surgery, is not good. The family still insists that the neurosurgeon
complete the surgery.
1. What are the ethical and legal issues in this case study.
Be specific and support your response with references
Once you have the patient in the room and you are prepped
and ready for surgery, the phone rings. You receive word that the patient
signed DNR orders two days ago.
2. As the OR nurse what are your legal and ethical issues
now? Was the patient of sound mind when he signed this order? Do you honor the
DNR or the family’s wishes? Explain and support your response.

the nurse has. How do you discover what the patient’s learning style is?

Part 1. EBP Research
Locate two research articles on the topic of your choice,
but each article needs to use a different research method (quantitative,
qualitative, or mixed methods). First, summarize both articles. Then answer the

Part 2. Political Letter
Identify a current state or national healthcare or nursing
issues that impact nurses or healthcare.

Once you have found your issue, write a letter to your
governor, senator, or congress person. Your letter should be one page, in a
block format and addresses should be included. Your first paragraph should
state the issue. The second paragraph should state how the issue affects you
personally as a nurse (avoid medical jargon). The third paragraph should state
how the issue affects the community. Your fourth and final paragraph should restate
the importance of the issue and thank the individual for their time and
attention to the issue.
Your references for the letter should not be cited in your
letter, but should be included on a separate reference page.

Continuing education units are required for renewal of
license (in some states) and for recertification. Continuing education opens
doors to job opportunities. Answer the questions:
Why is advancing your degree and knowledge important for
nursing as a profession? Explain and give several reasons.
How would you respond to a nurse that states: “I only want
to live and work in a state that does not require continue education credits
and I never want to advance my degree?” Explain in detail what you would say
and why.
Part 2: Future of Nursing (Part 2 should be at least 2 pages
and include 2 outside references and the textbook.)
Review the author's vision in the textbook (Chapter 25), of
the future of nursing and complete your own research to include the Institute
of Medicine's (IOM) report.
Do you agree with the authors or do you have a different
vision of nursing? Explain and provide examples as to why you do agree or do
not agree.

Please consider how you have met the course objectives over
the last eight weeks. Then write a minimum of 1000 words describing how this
course has helped you achieve these outcomes. Finally, chose one assignment
that you feel best represents your learning in the course. Take a few minutes
to revise it, according to comments from your professor. These can be submitted
as two files.
Finally, submit the assignments into the drop-box and save a
copy of it in a folder on your personal computer.
