N530 Leadership in Healthcare Organizations

Final Project

The Institute of Medicine and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation sponsored a series of meetings and solicited the input of many parties regarding the role of nursing in the health and welfare of the American people and what this means for nursing education and nursing practice. The report is available through the Institute of Medicine web site. Please review this and the commentaries from the various professional groups such as the American Medical Association, American Nurses Association as well as the media.

Choose one aspect of this report (i.e., encouraging clinical practice agreements, expanding nurse-run clinics, etc.) that is of interest to you. Research the topic and consider innovative, but practical ways to implement this idea as a leader in nursing today. Include the following:

o   Specific ways to implement this in your community – include strategies regarding change and conflict resolution learned in this course.

o   Key stakeholders and community alliances

o   Proposed action plan

o   Key factors in measuring success

o   Anticipated outcomes

Write up your process and findings in a 5-7 page double-spaced, APA style report (excluding title page and reference page), using at least 5 scholarly references.  Please use the rubric below to help you complete the final project.
