Increasingly, professional success depends upon your ability to work effectively within and sometimes lead a team. The team has become the basic unit of performance in modern organizations. The ability to develop and lead teams, particularly interdisciplinary teams, is becoming a core competency for nursing leaders.

This assignment is 4-5 pages in length, formatted in MS Word, and written in a scholarly manner. Your report should be idea-driven, but researched based, so be sure to include research citations.

In the first section of this assignment, describe at least three unique challenges associated with leading health care teams. What is it that makes developing and leading teams in this industry different from others? Most of the literature and research about team-building is not industry specific, but we know that each industry has its own unique challenges. What are they in healthcare?

In the second section of this assignment, consider the importance of collaboration and courage as fundamental skills necessary when leading teams. Both traits can be demonstrated through the behavior of the leader. There are signs that the staff need to see in the leader to indicate he or she acts courageously, such as:

This paper should be about team leadership and behaviors in the workplace. You should address the topics: decision-making, conflict resolution, dysfunctional behaviors and emotional intelligence (EI). Consider and address knowledge gained during this course and its impact on your nursing practice.
